Job summary

Vander-Bend Manufacturing in San Jose, CA is seeking a Grind Operator I for a full-time, permanent day shift. The role performs grinding and oscillation of welded parts to meet cosmetic standards, onsite and hourly with a $26-$28 wage.

The ideal candidate has basic reading and arithmetic skills, 1 year of sheet metal/metals experience preferred, and familiarity with grinders (2", 4", 7") and a 5" oscillating sander. This position offers stability and growth in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand written documents.
• Must be able to perform basic arithmetic.
• One year of sheet metal and/or metalworking experience preferred.
• Six months of sheet metal grinding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic sheet metal operations in various departments as needed.
• Perform grinding and oscillation on welded parts.
• Follow verbal and/or written job descriptions.
• Ensure proper handling and stacking of parts.
• Verify previous operations are completed and part counts are accurate.
• Check finished processes and ensure accurate part counts.
• Communicate weld voids and/or cracks to the Lead Grind Operator.
• Maintain a safe and professional work area.

• Requires the dexterity to work with the following grinding tools.

1. 2\" right angle grinder
2. 4\" electric grinder
3. 7\" electric grinder
4. 5\" oscillating sander

• Requires the ability to grind parts that meet or exceed Vander-Bends quality standards.
• During the course of employment, develop the ability to read and properly interpret blueprints.
• May occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
• Extended periods of time standing.
