Job summary

MISO is seeking a System Planning Engineering Co‑op in Carmel, IN, to support interconnection and transmission service processes while collaborating to automate workflows and manage data. You’ll work with engineers to improve tools and enhance visibility into interconnection requests, all within a grid undergoing major changes and reliability challenges.

You will gain hands‑on experience with Python scripting, PSSE/PowerWorld/TARA, and data management in a real‑world engineering environment,

Qualifications

Term: January 13 - April 30, 2027; Full‑time; Paid.
Location: Carmel, IN; Housing available for qualified students.
Academic Level: Undergraduate (Juniors or Seniors) or Graduate.
Degree: Electrical Engineering.
Required Technical Skills: Foundational Electrical Engineering coursework; Exposure to power flow and electrical machines.
Preferred Skills: Python; PSSE/PowerWorld/TARA; Experience with data or automation projects.

Responsibilities

Support interconnection and transmission service processes.
Collaborate to develop tools and automate workflows; improve data management.
Help ensure grid reliability during a major transformation of resources and loads.
Build and use tools to give engineers better visibility into interconnections and transmission service requests.
