Job summary

MISO in Carmel, Indiana, invites a Spring 2027 Co-op in System Planning Engineering. You'll support how new energy resources and large loads connect to the grid while learning through hands-on projects.

You'll work with Python scripting, power system modeling tools like PSS E, PowerWorld, and TARA, and data management platforms to automate workflows and improve interconnection processes. This paid on-site co-op offers housing for qualified students and a pathway to full-time roles

Qualifications

  • Some college or better in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Exposure to power systems concepts such as power flow and electrical machines.
  • Preferred: junior or senior undergraduate or graduate student for co-op.

Responsibilities

  • Support interconnection and transmission service processes and data management.
  • Develop tools and automate workflows for grid resource integration.
  • Collaborate with engineers to improve how resources connect to the transmission system.
  • Gain hands-on experience with Python scripting and power system tools.
  • Contribute to reliability analyses during grid transformation and large-load growth.
