Job summary

Dominion Energy is seeking a student intern in Electrical Engineering to build a foundation in power systems, data analytics, and grid modernization.

You will support the Distribution System Grid Planning team with defined engineering tasks, data organization, modeling, and documentation to enable long-range planning and reliability improvements.

This role emphasizes supervised learning, teamwork, and developing technical communication through summaries, reports, and presentations.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Analytics, or related field.
Interest in electric power systems, grid modernization, and DERs.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with good communication skills.
Able to work both independently and in a team, with good time management.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Excel, Power BI, Python, GIS is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist with distribution system studies including load flow, voltage, reliability analyses under guidance.
Support data collection, validation, and organization for grid load and DER forecasting.
Maintain planning models, spreadsheets, dashboards, and technical documentation.
Assist with long-range plan development and documentation of projected grid needs.
Contribute to research, data review, and documentation of planning topics.
