Job summary

Xcel Energy in Texas invites you to join as a Grid Ops Engineering intern, gaining hands-on experience in power system operations while supporting Distribution Control Center and ADMS software. You will work with engineering staff, perform entry-level engineering analyst tasks, and participate in outages coordination, power flow studies, and system monitoring.

The role is for a May 24, 2027 start date with hybrid in-person work and options for extension based on performance and business needs;

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited college or university enrollment in Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Supporting model tuning and tracking non-communicating devices
• Assisting with alarm limits and GOE projects
• Working with Engineering staff to support Distribution Control Center and ADMS software
• Performing entry-level engineering analyst tasks supporting tools, programs, and databases
• Gaining practical operations experience and mentoring to build professional confidence

Education

Pursuing a degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred)
