Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company seeks a Contract Grid Inspector for our Columbia, SC facility. You will perform detailed dimensional and visual inspections on production parts, read drawings, and ensure records meet customer requirements.

This contract position requires flexibility across shifts, the ability to pass safety assessments, and readiness to work in a manufacturing environment with lifting up to 35 lbs. Competitive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or Equivalent.
• Must be Available all Shifts.
• Must pass Psychological/Safety Assessment.
• Must pass stringent background drug screen and medical.
• Able to stand, sit, push, pull, kneel, bend and lift up to 35 lbs.
• 2 years of manufacturing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely perform detailed dimensional and visual inspection of production parts using standard tools.
• Overcheck shipping documents and records for accuracy and compliance with expectations.
• Read and interpret drawings and process information to determine requirements.
• Review internal and external contract schedules to meet daily production needs.
• Use non-conforming material documentation in the internal hold system.
• Promptly communicate quality issues to necessary levels of support.

About the role:

Contract opportunity for a Grid Inspector at the Westinghouse Columbia facility.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely perform detailed dimensional and visual inspection of production parts that are repetitive in nature based on customer requirements using standard measurement tools and gages
• Safely perform an overcheck of shipping documents and records packages provided by our suppliers to ensure the records are accurate and validate Westinghouse expectations have been fulfilled.
• Read and interpret drawings, process information forms and standards to determine dimensional and skillfulness requirements
• Review internal and external contract schedules and meet daily production needs
• Use fundamental tools of non-conforming material including proper documentation in internal hold system
• Communicate quality issues to all necessary levels of support promptly
