Job summary

Impellam Group seeks an experienced EMS engineer to support GE Grid EMS/DMS systems and related transmission projects in the United States. The role requires hands-on expertise with e-terra products, RTNET/RTUC, and scripting to maintain HABITAT databases.

Ideal candidates hold a BS in IT/CS/Engineering and have 8+ years of related experience. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams and comply with NERC standards while coordinating with clients and vendors.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with GE Grid EMS/DMS systems and hands-on knowledge of GE products (e-terrahabitat, e-terracontrol, e-terracomm, e-terrasource, e-terratransmission, e-terraarchive).
• Experience with RTUC/Look-a-head, RTNET, STNET, RMTNET & SMTNET.
• Knowledge of EMS advanced software applications (State Estimator, Contingency Analysis, Network).
• Hands-on scripting experience to update HABITAT databases.
• Breadth in Electric Transmission systems with NERC transmission reliability standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering/technical guidance to identify, analyze and resolve complex EMS problems.
• Coordinate between team members, business units and vendors to ensure communication and problem resolution.
• Assess long-term system impacts and visualize results across the network.

• Extensive experience with General Electric Grid EMS/DMS systems. (Hands-on working knowledge of GE products including e-terrahabitat, e-terracontrol, e-terracomm, e-terrasource, e-terratransmission, e-terraarchive. )
• Extensive experience with RTUC/Look-a-head, RTNET, STNET, RMTNET & SMTNET.
• Maintains and exercises in depth knowledge of EMS advanced software applications (State Estimator, Contingency Analysis, Network)
• Hands-on working experience with scripting tools to update HABITAT databases.
• Working knowledge of networking protocols TCP/IP, UDP, DNP 3.0, ICCP, and ISD.
• Hands-on working experience with scripting tools (PERL, Python, JAVA, PowerShell, VBScript, etc).
• Broad experience with Electric Transmission systems, including NERC transmission reliability standards (BA, TOP, etc.).
• Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of complex EMS problems with the ability to visualize long-term results and assess impacts on a system-wide basis.
• Bachelor of Science degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field from an accredited university.
• Minimum of 8 years of related business experience.
• Able to pass NERC background check
• Demonstrated ability to form and maintain positive working relationships with teammates, peers and clients and to coordinate between team members, business units, support groups, corporate areas, and vendors to ensure appropriate communication and problem resolution.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, execute, and monitor work activities with little direct supervision.
