Job summary

Brightsmith seeks a Grid Analytics Engineer to join its U.S.-based team. You will lead transmission studies, interconnection analysis, and automation projects to optimize project screening and portfolio management.

Responsibilities include building regional base cases, developing Python-based workflows, mentoring junior staff, and collaborating with development, commercial analytics, origination, and executives. Requires EE degree and 2–5 years’ experience; travel <10%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (MS preferred).
• 2–5 years in transmission planning, generator interconnection, or power system analysis.
• Experience with PSS/E or TARA and their Python APIs.
• Experience building automated workflows for power flow studies or post-processing.
• Ability to obtain CEII from FERC and other agencies.
• Familiarity with WECC and SPP interconnection processes.
• Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages for automation and data analysis.
• Knowledge of open-source power system software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel within the U.S. as needed (less than 10%).

Responsibilities

• Perform power flow, injection, contingency, and scenario studies supporting project development and due diligence.
• Build and maintain regional power flow base cases reflecting generation, retirements, upgrades, and load growth.
• Execute screening-level and detailed transmission analyses to estimate injection capability and upgrade costs.
• Validate ISO/TO study results and support interconnection efforts.
• Support shadow studies and evaluations of queued projects and interconnection studies.
• Develop automated analytical workflows using Python and other scripting languages.
• Build tools to speed and standardize transmission analysis and support databases and dashboards.
• Identify opportunities to leverage AI-assisted tools to improve data processing and study execution.
• Translate study results into concise leadership summaries and support cross-functional discussions."],
