Job summary

Dave Gill Chevrolet in Columbus, OH is seeking a Service Department Greeter/Porter to warmly welcome customers and help manage the flow of vehicles in the service area. A valid driver’s license and a professional attitude are essential, with prior customer service experience a plus.

You will greet customers, move vehicles, keep the lot and service area clean, assist with paperwork, and ensure safety procedures are followed in a fast-paced dealership environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers entering the service area in a prompt, professional manner.
• Drive and park vehicles as needed; move cars around the service lot.
• Maintain lot cleanliness and assist with general service area upkeep.
• Transport customers to/from their home when required and assist with documentation.
• Attend required staff meetings and follow safety procedures.

Job Description

The Service Department Greeter/Porter helps ensure complete customer satisfaction by greeting customers as they enter the Service Department, ensuring customers areassisted in a friendly and quick manner, moving vehicles in and around the service area/lot, maintaining the cleanliness of vehicles and the service area, delivering vehicles to customers after service is complete, and transporting customers to/from their home when needed. The ideal candidate has excellent customer service skills, enjoys interacting with the public, a high energy level, a desire to work in a fast paced environment, and a valid driver’s license. He or she must have great communication and customer service skills, strong organizational and problem solving skills, and a positive attitude. Candidates must be able to drive both manual and automatic transmissions and safely maneuver vehicles in tight and small spaces. Previous experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promply and professionally greets customers as they enter the Service area
• Drives vehicles to and from service areas and lot as needed
• Installs protective coverings (seat covers, steering wheel covers, floor mats, etc.) and tags in all vehicles brought in for service
• Services vehicles with gas, oil, and water
• Washes and cleans vehicles as needed
• Helps maintain lot appearance by cleaning driveway and sidewalks, removing snow and debris as necessary
• Helps maintain shop cleanliness, including windows, doors, floors, etc.
• Transports customers to and from their home when needed and requested
• Attends all staff meetings, trainings, and educational classes as required
• Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards
• Follows all safety and security procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred

• Able to drive both automatic and standard-transmission vehicles
• Able to safely operate motor vehicles in tight and small spaces
• Highly professional and dependable
• Excellent communication, customer service, and problem solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Basic computer and internet skills
• Previous experience in a similar role a plus
