Job summary

Oglebay Golf Resort in Wheeling, WV, seeks a full-time Greenskeeper to maintain the golf course grounds and contribute to a fast-paced hospitality environment within Troon. Beginners welcome; previous grounds maintenance experience is not required.

Responsibilities include mowing greens and other areas, irrigation, soil prep, pruning, and applying pesticides/fertilizers. A valid driver's license and basic English ability are required.

Qualifications

• Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job.

• Maintains clean and organized work areas on the golf course and maintenance facility
• Mows greens, approaches, fairways, rough, tees and other areas
• Waters tees, greens and fairways; operates irrigation heads in dry areas needing additional water
• Repairs the irrigation system, pipes and irrigation heads as necessary
• Grades and prepares soil base, lays sod and seeds greens, tees and fairways
• Trims and prunes hedges and shrubbery; cleans flower beds
• Applies pesticides and fertilizer to the golf course
• Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor or manager

Ideal candidates have a passion for landscaping and nurturing our grounds. As a Grounds Keeper, you will be responsible for the landscaping and maintenance around the golf course. Beginner Greenskeepers are welcome – while knowledge of grounds maintenance is preferred, previous experience is not required for the position.

Ideal candidates have flexible schedules with availability to work extended hours during golf and holiday season, as needed.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Noise level is moderate
