Job summary

Sunswell Greens is looking for a Greenhouse Maintenance Technician at our Punta Gorda, FL facility. You will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimizing greenhouse equipment to ensure efficient operations. The role requires experience with HVAC, electrical systems, and plumbing.

About Us: Sunswell Greens is a leading provider of hydroponic produce, committed to sustainable and high-quality products. We are seeking a skilled Greenhouse Maintenance Technician to join our team at our Punta Gorda, Florida facility.

Summary: The Greenhouse Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimizing the mechanical systems and equipment used in a controlled-environment greenhouse facility. This includes HVAC systems, irrigation equipment, conveyance systems, seeding and harvesting machines, plumbing, and general facility infrastructure. The technician plays a critical role in ensuring the continuous, efficient operation of systems that support plant production. This position reports to the Farm Manager.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair greenhouse equipment, including pumps, fans, heaters, cooling systems, and hydroponic systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues within greenhouse operations.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on machinery and facility systems.
• Calibrate and adjust automation systems (e.g., climate controls, fertigation units) for optimal performance.
• Support installation of new equipment or system upgrades.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and service records.
• Work closely with growers and operations teams to ensure equipment supports crop health and productivity.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Respond promptly to urgent repair needs to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required, technical certification or associate’s degree in mechanics, HVAC, or a related field preferred.
• Experience with electrical systems required.
• 2+ years of experience in a mechanical or maintenance role, preferably in a greenhouse, agricultural, or industrial setting.
• Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and greenhouse automation (Priva).
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Skilled in the use of power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic devices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a hot, humid, and fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Comfortable with heights (Working on greenhouse roof).
• Ability to speak Spanish preferred but not required
• Majority of time spent in a greenhouse and facility maintenance setting.
• Exposure to fluctuating temperatures, humidity, chemicals (fertilizers, cleaning agents), and machinery noise.

Schedule

8 hr. shift or until job is done. Weekend availability.

Pay Range

$26-$32 hr (pay based on experience)
