Job summary

Grand River Navigation Company, Inc. seeks an Assistant Conveyorman to join our US-flagged self-unloading fleet on the Great Lakes. You will assist in operating and maintaining onboard cargo conveyor systems and support deck operations to ensure safe, efficient cargo handling.

Qualifications

• TWIC Card required.
• MMC with Wiper Endorsement preferred.
• Permitted to work in the US and Canada.
• Excellent communication and multitasking ability.
• Mechanical experience and welding preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist operation and maintenance of onboard conveyor systems.
• Monitor conveyor equipment during loading, unloading, and cargo transfer.
• Perform routine inspections, lubrication, cleaning, and minor repairs.
• Report equipment issues and safety concerns.
• Maintain clean, safe cargo handling areas.
• Support vessel mooring, deck operations, and safety procedures.
• Maintain maintenance records and logs.
