Job summary

FASTSIGNS Bedford Heights is seeking a full-time Graphics Designer / Sign Production Specialist to join our team. You will create full-color graphics and vinyl output, prepare substrates, and ensure quality before production.

Ideal candidates have 2-3 years of experience in graphic design and sign production, are proficient with Adobe Illustrator and Onyx Print Software, and can multi-task and work autonomously. Compensation ranges from $18.00 to $21.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of both graphic design and sign production experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Onyx Print Software.
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task and work autonomously.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
• Able to stand for long periods and lean over a work table.

Responsibilities

• Create computer-generated full-color graphics and vinyl output for substrates.
• Modify designs from customer drawings or provided files for production.
• Determine size, layout, and type to fit space and production needs.
• Inspect jobs for accuracy before production.
• Maintain customer logo library and convert graphic files.
• Prepare substrates for vinyl application and perform finishing such as laminating.
• Operate and maintain large format printer, plotting machine, and laminator.
• Report inventory levels to the center/production manager.
• Interact with customers by phone or in person.
• Keep work areas clean and organized.

A Successful FASTSIGNS Graphics Designer / Sign Production Specialist Will:

• Create computer-generated full-color graphics and/or vinyl output that can be printed and mounted to a substrate or weeded, cut and applied
• Complete or modify designs from customer drawings, art files, or exact output of customer-provided design for output to media
• Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, select style and size of type, and arrange layout based upon available space, aesthetic design, and production requirements.
• Inspect jobs for accuracy prior to production. Ensure correct material is used for each job and output device settings are accurate
• Maintain customer logo library; convert graphic files
• Follow a layout to place computer-cut vinyl or full-color graphic image(s) on a predetermined substrate or medium
• Prepare substrates for vinyl application to include cutting, painting, laminating, cleaning, etc
• Weed excess vinyl from computer-cut images. Weeding techniques vary with size, type of vinyl, and complexity of images
• Operate and maintain large format printer, plotting machine, and laminator
• Perform quality assurance measures pre- and post-production by accurately reading and interpreting a Work Order and then proofing for errors or unacceptable standards
• Perform finishing operations such as laminating and/or mounting of printed pieces
• Report inventory levels and stock to be reordered to the center manager/production manager or franchisee
• Interact with Customer by phone or face to face
• Clean and maintain work areas

Ideal Qualifications for FASTSIGNS Graphics Designer / Sign Production Specialist:

• 2-3 years of BOTH Graphic Design Experience and Sign Production Experience
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Onyx Print Software
• Ability to prioritize jobs, multi-task, and work autonomously
• Determine the best output method based on the customer’s needs
• Sit and view a computer screen for long periods (4 hours or more)
• Ability to work under pressure to output high volume, high-quality work
• Ability to stand for long periods of time (4 hours or more)
• Ability to lift 50 or more pounds
• Flexibility to lean over a waist-high table and use back and forth hand motion to apply vinyl letters and graphics to a substrate
• Ability to use light power equipment
