Job summary

The Graphic Designer at University of Mobile plays a key role on the Marketing & Communications team, producing high-quality design across print and digital media to tell the university story with clarity and impact. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, at least two years of experience, and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite on macOS, with a strong portfolio.

This full-time, exempt position is on-site in Mobile, Alabama, reporting to the Associate VP for Creative

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a design role (in-house, freelance, or agency).
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and experienced in working on the macOS platform.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating excellence in layout, typography, and visual storytelling.
  • Skilled in designing for both print and digital media.
  • Familiar with in-house print production and working with outside vendors.
  • Able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Committed Christian and actively involved in a local church; supports the University’s Statement of Christian Affiliation.

Responsibilities

  • Reflect the Imago Dei of Christ in all professional interactions and creative work.
  • Design visual assets that support the strategic goals of the university while adhering to brand guidelines.
  • Translate creative briefs into innovative and effective design solutions.
  • Create marketing materials for print, digital, social, email, and campus-wide promotions.
  • Assist in the design and content curation of weekly email newsletters.
  • Assist in updating website content, ensuring it is current, accurate, and aligned with marketing strategies.
  • Manage in-house print production, trimming, and file prep.
  • Collaborate with writers, photographers, and marketing strategists to bring campaigns to life.
  • Mentor and supervise graphic design interns.
  • Stay informed on design trends, tools, and techniques to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
  • Maintain consistent quality and meet project deadlines.
  • Participate in regular brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas.
  • Support other projects and duties as assigned.

Position Overview

The Graphic Designer plays a key role on the University of Mobile’s award-winning Marketing & Public Relations team. This creative professional produces compelling, high-quality design work that supports the university’s mission and brand. From print collateral to digital assets, the Graphic Designer works across platforms to help tell the University of Mobile story with clarity, beauty, and purpose.
