CLASSIFICATION: Administrative Marketing

DEPARTMENT: Marketing & Communications

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Executive Director of Marketing

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervision of student workers and/or interns may be required. Supervision and management of external vendors of freelance personnel may be required.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Graphic Designer creates thoughtful, compelling, and consistently branded visual communications that advance Moravian University’s institutional priorities. Working within the University’s established visual identity, this role translates marketing strategies, institutional messaging, and campus initiatives into high-quality creative across print, digital, environmental, and presentation formats.

The Graphic Designer partners closely with academic and administrative departments, Enrollment, and other campus partners to develop materials that clearly communicate the University’s identity, programs, people, and priorities. This is a highly collaborative production role that balances creativity with strong project management, attention to detail, and adherence to brand standards.

  • Design a wide range of institutional marketing materials, including brochures, viewbooks, flyers, invitations, presentations, reports, signage, digital graphics, and other branded communications.
  • Translate marketing strategies and messaging into clear, engaging visual communications for a variety of audiences.
  • Support academic and administrative departments with strategic marketing projects that align with University priorities and brand standards.
  • Design materials for major University initiatives, events, announcements, celebrations, and institutional priorities.
  • Maintain consistency and quality across the University’s visual identity and ensure materials adhere to established brand guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Institutional Marketing & Content Strategy to translate messaging and content strategy into effective visual communications.
  • Create digital assets for the University website, social media, email, presentations, and other digital channels as needed.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing competing priorities and meeting established deadlines.
  • Prepare files for print and digital production and coordinate with printers and external vendors as needed.
  • Maintain organized creative files, templates, and brand assets.
  • Stay current with design trends, tools, accessibility considerations, and emerging creative technologies, including AI-assisted design tools.
  • Contribute to the continued evolution and application of the University’s visual identity.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, or related field.

Required Experience:

  • 3-5 years of professional graphic design experience, preferably in higher education, nonprofit, healthcare, cultural institutions, or another complex organizational environment.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating excellence in typography, layout, visual hierarchy, branding, and digital/print design.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Strong understanding of print and digital production processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working within an established institutional brand.
  • Higher education experience.
  • Experience designing publications, presentations, environmental graphics, and recruitment materials.
  • Familiarity with web accessibility and accessible digital design.
  • Experience using AI-assisted creative tools.
