Join University Communications & Marketing at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. This hybrid Graphic Design Specialist role supports UCCS strategic goals by producing high-quality print and digital communications and creating multimedia content that helps strengthen the university’s brand with prospective students, alumni, donors, and other key constituents.
In this one-year, full-time position, you will help deliver effective marketing and communications materials aligned with UCCS brand standards and visual design guidelines, from concept through final production and delivery.
Responsibilities
- Provide print and digital design support for university communications and marketing initiatives.
- Develop creative solutions that advance UCCS strategic communication objectives and promote a positive image of UCCS.
- Research, design, and produce high-quality printed and electronic communications materials, including flyers, advertisements, invitations, annual reports, event programs, and other on-demand assets.
- Create multimedia content that supports the university’s mission, including design and production of final artwork for print and digital paid media across multiple platforms and formats.
- Ensure all materials align with UCCS brand standards and visual design guidelines, maintaining consistency between digital and print.
- Create concepts and design plans that support university strategic communication goals across print, digital, and multimedia platforms.
- Handle production and preflight of print-ready artwork, ensuring proper sizing, resolution, formatting, and technical specifications using relevant design tools.
- Attend client meetings as necessary to determine communication needs, then research, develop, present, and refine concepts based on client objectives and audience needs.
- Collaborate with cross-discipline teams and clients to develop integrated multimedia projects while managing competing priorities and workloads.
- Iterate on design work with direction, feedback, and constructive criticism, staying within established brand standards and communication objectives.
- Communicate project requirements, timelines, revisions, and deliverables with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting established deadlines, priorities, and quality standards.
- Support reusable resources by assisting with templates, digital assets, and other communications materials.
- Organize and maintain design files and digital assets in accordance with established file and digital asset management practices.
- Utilize current industry standards, design trends, and technical knowledge to create effective communications materials.
- Perform desktop publishing and graphic design support for university staff and departments, as needed.
- Incorporate photography and photo-editing techniques into design projects as appropriate.
- Maintain awareness of emerging design tools, technologies, industry standards, and trends to support continuous improvement.
- Perform other related duties as assigned in support of the University Marketing and Communications team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.
- Professional experience in graphic design, multimedia design, or a related field, including Adobe Creative Suite use: InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Professional experience working with clients or stakeholders to develop and execute design solutions.
- A portfolio demonstrating relevant graphic design and multimedia work is encouraged with the application and will be required upon phone interview.

Schedule: Full-time. Work location: On-Site/Hybrid.
Salary range: $44,567 - $57,506 per year. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.
Position Term
This is a one-year full-time position within University Communications & Marketing. Continuation beyond the one-year is not guaranteed and would be subject to university needs, funding, and applicable hiring processes.
