Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 0 - 1 year experience in accounting; auditing experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Review grants and contracts portfolio.
  • Review and approve all transactions for each grant/contract according to policies.
  • Compare salary/effort charged to grants/contracts to approved award budget.
  • Ensure cost allocations between grants are allocated based on a reasonable methodology.
  • Collect and analyze data relating to grants and contracts to detect non-compliance with laws and policies.
  • Inspect account books for accuracy and use of accepted accounting procedures.
  • Examine and evaluate financial data to ensure data integrity.
  • Inspect cash on hand for grant accounts and Sponsor’s payment schedule; follow up on receivables.
  • Prepare, examine or analyze accounting records, transactions and reports for accuracy and conformance to terms.
  • Review accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differences.
  • Prepare adjusting journal entries.
  • Analyze grant budget, costs, revenues, commitments and obligations to project the correct grant status.
  • Report to management and investigators regarding grant finances.
  • Analyze grant budget and expenditures and prepare budget vs. actual reports.
  • Prepare annual financial reports and variance analysis to meet deadlines and aid planning.
