Job summary

Inside Philanthropy in New York City is seeking an experienced Grants Officer focused on Safety Net initiatives to join a newly created grants team.

You will monitor trends, assess needs, review proposals, and manage due diligence while collaborating with finance, legal, and program colleagues to advance support for older adults, people with disabilities, and individuals facing food insecurity in the Jewish community.

Qualifications

• Five years of full-time professional grants experience.
• Knowledge of disability, aging, and/or food insecurity sectors in the United States.
• Ability to assess organizations, programs, and investment opportunities with sound judgment.
• Grant initiation, development, monitoring, and analysis experience.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strategic thinking and sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor trends, research, emerging needs, and promising approaches in disability, aging, and food insecurity.
• Identify philanthropic investment opportunities within the Jewish community.
• Assess community needs and service gaps.
• Evaluate models for reaching underserved populations and improving access.
• Evaluate organizations and opportunities against Foundation priorities.
• Build relationships with nonprofit organizations and leaders.
• Review proposals and participate in due diligence processes.
• Monitor grantee compliance with grant agreements and reporting requirements.
• Prepare reports and recommendations for the Board and/or Board committees.
• Work closely with the finance office, legal department, and colleagues across the grants team.
• Apply sound judgment and human-services expertise to philanthropic decisions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Opportunity

A major private philanthropic foundation with a longstanding commitment to strengthening Jewish life and creating meaningful impact in the United States and Israel is building a new grantmaking team and seeking an experienced Grants Officer focused on Safety Net initiatives.

This is a newly created position reporting to the Executive Vice President of Grants. The Grants Officer will bring expertise in human services, philanthropy, and community needs by focusing on advancing opportunities to support older adults, individuals with disabilities, and people experiencing food insecurity within the Jewish community.

What You’ll Bring

• At least five years of full-time professional experience.
• Bachelor's degree; master's degree preferred.
• Knowledge of disability, aging, and/or food insecurity sectors in the United States.
• Ability to assess organizations, programs, and investment opportunities using sound field knowledge, analytical judgment, and an understanding of philanthropic strategy.
• Grant initiation, development, monitoring, and analysis experience.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strategic thinking and sound judgment.
