YMCA of Montclair is seeking a Grants Manager to support the grants program, including identifying opportunities, gathering program data, drafting requests, and managing reporting. You will track proposals using Raiser's Edge and collaborate with the Chief Philanthropic Officer and finance to ensure timely submissions and accurate reporting.

The role emphasizes building relationships with funders, managing multiple deadlines, and translating data into compelling narratives.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years' grant writing experience with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent editorial (editing and writing) skills for grants/proposals.
• Flexible mindset with strong time management to handle multiple deadlines.
• Process oriented with ability to improve workflows and adapt to tools.
• Availability during business hours.
• Attention to detail with high accuracy.
• Ability to deliver results with minimal supervision and creative problem solving.
• Positive attitude and willingness to take on varied tasks.
• Ability to integrate data, visuals, and narrative into compelling proposals.
• Excellent collaboration, organizational, and communication skills.
• Must have CPR/AED and First Aid Certification or obtain within 90 days.
• Track record of securing grants from NJ funders a plus.

Responsibilities

• Understand and communicate the YMCA of Montclair's mission, plan, history, structure, objectives, programs, and financial needs.
• Research potential funding opportunities from foundation, corporate, and governmental sources.
• Lead proposal initiation meetings with internal stakeholders to gather details and deadlines.
• Create and maintain a grants calendar of application and report deadlines.
• Utilize Raiser's Edge to track proposals, reports, interactions, and next steps.
• Prioritize grant opportunities with the CPO and coordinate with departments to draft proposals and submit on time.
• Coordinate with finance to track grant contributions and respond to inquiries.
• Cultivate relationships with funders and other stakeholders.
• Maintain records related to grant requests.
• Adhere to policies related to boundaries with members, volunteers, staff, and participants.
• Attend required Abuse Risk Management training and follow reporting procedures.
