Job summary

Rothamsted Research is seeking a Management Accountant - Grants to join the Finance team. You will provide expert financial support across the grant lifecycle, from award setup to final reporting, helping researchers and leaders maximise the impact of grant funding.

Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant, you will produce monthly management accounts, support budgeting and forecasting, and act as a trusted advisor translating complex numbers into actionable guidance for non-finance

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification or equivalent required
• Experience in management accounting, budgeting and forecasting
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance audiences
• Proactive, customer-focused approach and commitment to service
• Experience in charity/not-for-profit or grant-funded environments
• Experience with restricted and unrestricted funding or grant management

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate monthly management accounts
• Support budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning
• Provide analysis and management information to budget holders
• Partner with researchers and professional services teams to manage funding
• Support grant compliance, monitor expenditure and reporting
• Identify improvements to financial processes and ways of working
• Translate financial information into practical guidance for non-finance colleagues
