Job summary

The Roots & Wings Foundation in Seattle is seeking a Program Officer to help shape and grow our fledgling private foundation. This role works closely with the Executive Director to set funding strategy and manage our grants program, supporting daily office needs and philanthropies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or greater.
• History of academic and professional success.
• 5+ years of work experience in grants management, foundation operations or related field is preferred.
• Experience with some operational responsibilities such as finance, HR, IT and legal is a plus.
• Knowledge of some of the foundation’s funding areas is preferred.
• Ability to travel locally and nationally 10-20%

Responsibilities

• Manage grants program: strengthen funding strategy, research programs, review proposals, site visits, analysis for funding decisions.
• Build community: monitor policy issues, cultivate relationships with partners and funders, respond to inquiries, help maintain the website.
• Support the organization: assist in setting up and running the Seattle office, assist the Board with reporting and technical assistance, address operational needs.
