Job summary

Howard County Health Department seeks an Accountant II serving as Non-UFD & Private Funding Grants Manager. The role develops financial processes, ensures GAAP/GAS compliance, and supports budget planning and audits.

The position includes grant reconciliation, monthly reporting, and coordination with grants staff. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting and two years of related experience are required; a hybrid telework option is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with auditing coursework or equivalent.
• Two years of experience applying GAAP and GAS to accounting records.
• Experience maintaining grant records and preparing budget projections.
• Knowledge of fiscal policies, audits and contract compliance.

Responsibilities

• Develops financial processes for grant management and planning.
• Maintains records of funding sources and tracks expenditures.
• Reconciles grants monthly and prepares budget reports.
• Provides forecasts and financial summaries to leadership.
• Collaborates with grants liaison and finance staff to ensure compliance.
• Processes invoices and assists with year-end closeout and audits.
