Job summary

The University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Medicine seeks a Contracts and Grants Specialist in the Department of Neurology to manage contract and grant activities, budgeting, and compliance.

This role supports research administration across a spectrum of neurological disorders, coordinating with PI, sponsors, and subcontractors to ensure timely and accurate submissions and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• Three (3) years of accounting, budget, contract, grant, or research administration experience.
• Additional related experience and formal education may substitute for the education or experience requirement.

Responsibilities

• Provides contract and grant preparation review and develops submission guidelines.
• Acts as point of contact with UMB, sponsor, and subcontractors to ensure milestones are met.
• Navigates the subcontract process through University systems and ensures compliance.
• Collaborates with PI and management to develop project plans and interpret policy.
• Reconciles budgets with sponsor approvals and forecasts expenditures.
• Prepares and reviews financial status reports and invoices; manages close-out procedures.
• Ensures results are completed and submitted to sponsor; assists in issue resolution.
• Advises PI on all financial transactions such as travel, purchasing, or subcontracting.
• Interprets and applies Federal, State, and sponsor guidelines.
• Reviews applications for funding and prepares grant and contract budgets in line with policy.
• Maintains training documents and ensures compliance with regulations.
