Job summary

Thread, Inc. is seeking a Grants & Stewardship Manager to lead institutional fundraising across foundations, corporations, government, and other grantors.

Reporting to the Director of Development, you will manage proposals, renewals, and stewardship while coordinating with program, finance, data, and communications teams to tell Thread’s story accurately and with heart. You will own the development calendar, prepare funder briefings, and craft compelling narratives from program outcomes.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of grant writing, institutional fundraising, development operations, or related field.
• Track record of competitive proposals funded by foundations, corporations, and government.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills; ability to turn data into compelling narratives.
• Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM, plus Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
• A relationship builder who collaborates across departments and with external partners.
• Commitment to equity and belonging; aligns with company competencies.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead writing and submission of proposals, LOIs, and renewals with program, finance, data, and communications teams.
• Manage the full grant lifecycle from prospect research to award, reporting, renewal, and stewardship.
• Own development calendar ensuring deadlines, reports, site visits, and touchpoints are planned.
• Prepare briefings, talking points, and follow-up for funder meetings and site visits.
• Build Salesforce dashboards and tracking systems to show fundraising performance.
• Explore smarter workflows using AI and automation while maintaining human judgment and relationships.

About the role

Reporting to our Director of Development, the Grants & Stewardship Manager runs the day-to-day operations of Thread’s development framework across foundation, corporate, government, and institutional grants. You’ll:

• Lead the writing and submission of proposals, letters of intent, and renewals, working with program, finance, data, and communications teams to tell Thread’s story with accuracy and heart
• Manage the full grant lifecycle, from prospect research through award, reporting, renewal, and stewardship
• Own Thread’s development calendar so every deadline, report, site visit, and stewardship touchpoint is planned ahead
• Prepare briefings, talking points, and follow-up for funder meetings and site visits
• Build Salesforce dashboards and tracking systems that show how institutional fundraising is performing
• Find smarter ways to work, including thoughtful use of AI and automation, while keeping human judgment and relationships at the center

Who we’re looking for

• 4+ years of progressively responsible experience in grant writing, institutional fundraising, development operations, or a related field
• A track record of competitive proposals funded by foundations, corporations, and government
• Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to turn data and program outcomes into compelling narratives
• Strong project management skills and a steady hand with multiple complex deadlines
• Experience with Salesforce or a similar CRM, plus Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace
• A relationship builder who collaborates well across departments and with external partners

Salary range: $56,300–$84,500
