Job summary

The University of Texas at Arlington seeks a Grants Administrator to assist Principal Investigators in preparing and managing research grants and sponsored projects within the College of Nursing and Health Innovation and the Department of Kinesiology.

You will develop budgets and narratives, review applications, and coordinate with the Office of Pre-Award and ORA to ensure compliance and timely submissions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business or management plus 2 years of grants accounting experience, or 6 years equivalent.
• Experience with federal regulations and compliance in sponsored programs.
• Experience proofreading grant proposals and ensuring accuracy.

Responsibilities

The annual salary for this position ranges from $52,200 to $63,000. The final offer will be commensurate with the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.

Purpose of Position

Assists Principal Investigators in preparing and managing research grants and sponsored projects within the College of Nursing and Health Innovation and the Department of Kinesiology.

Essential Functions

• Develop proposal budgets and narratives, review complex grant applications and interpret compliance regulations from agency sponsors and UTA policies.
• Prepare final proposals documents for online submissions and provide faculty with edited drafts and recommendations for review.
• Advise faculty on allowable/unallowable costs and act as liaison between CONHI faculty and the Office of Pre-Award for grant submissions.
• Acts as liaison between CONHI faculty and the Office of Post-Award in Research Administration for new grant awards.
• Ensure regulatory compliance, accuracy, completeness prior to submitting proposals to the Office of Research Administration (ORA) or directly to sponsors with approval from (ORA).
• Conduct one-on-one meetings with faculty regarding new grant developments.
• Participate in meetings with CONHI and UTA faculty on research grants and maintain a central database of all pre-award submissions for CONHI.
• Prepare annual grant reports regarding submissions and additional reports by special request.
• Guide principal investigators on grant implementation, interpreting award terms, contract conditions, and compliance requirements.
• Ensure compliance with sponsor reporting deadlines by reviewing programmatic reports with faculty, staying updated through sponsor webinars, maintaining grant records, and advising on allowable post-award costs.
• Prepare and submit prior approval requests, including extensions, budget transfers, scope changes, and personnel updates, while coordinating with agency officers to resolve programmatic issues.
• Process close-out documents, coordinate with Research Administration and Grants Accounting on contracts, budgets, and reports, and support grant administration, negotiation, and resolution of complex issues.
• Performs other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business or management and two (2) years of sponsored program or grants accounting experience in higher education or six (6) years of an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business or management and four (4) years managing education and research grants with expertise in compliance and regulations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong managerial and organizational skills with experience in proofreading grant proposals, familiarity with federal regulations, budget development, and personnel management.
• Skilled in coordinating multiple projects, with strong analytical abilities and proficiency in Microsoft Office and databases, and capable of working independently.

Work Schedule

• Monday through Friday; 8:00am through 5:00pm
