Job summary

State of Nebraska’s Health & Human Services agency is seeking a Grants Accounting Analyst in Lincoln, NE. This role oversees, monitors, reports, and reconciles roughly $200 million in federal funds annually, ensuring compliance and accurate financial reporting.

The candidate will handle expenditures, grant set-ups, cost reconciliation, and liaison with internal/external stakeholders. Strong Excel skills and federal grants experience are preferred; on-site work at the Nebraska State Office

Qualifications

Post high school education in accounting, finance, public or business administration, economics, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or related areas.
Experience in fiscal or accounting systems analysis, budget analysis or preparation, or financial auditing is a plus.
Preferred experience with federal grants financial reporting and strong Microsoft Excel skills.

Responsibilities

Oversee financial reporting for federal grants and maintain monthly grant financials.
Set up federal grants, business units, authorizations, and redistribution for reconciliation.
Perform reconciliation of administrative and indirect costs, journal entries, and closing units.
Ensure compliance with federal regulations and DHHS policies.
Update policies and procedures as grant terms/regulations change.
Maintain documentation and respond to inquiries from federal partners and auditors.
