Position Summary

The New Jewish Home (TNJH) is seeking a Grants Accountant to manage the financial aspects of government and private grant funding across multiple programs and service lines, including workforce development initiatives, community-based programs such as CAPABLE, and skilled nursing facility (SNF)–related grants. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with grant requirements, accurate financial reporting, and the maintenance of financial documentation to support program and organizational operations.

The ideal candidate will have experience in nonprofit accounting and grant management, including City, State, and Federal funding, and will be comfortable working closely with program, clinical, development, and finance teams in a healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Track and manage all grant revenues and expenditures, ensuring compliance with grant agreements, approved budgets, and applicable regulations.
  • Prepare and submit timely and accurate financial reports for City, State, Federal, and private funders.
  • Work closely with program managers, clinical leadership, development, and the finance team to prepare grant budgets, budget modifications, and expenditure forecasts; ensure alignment between program activities, fundraising proposals, and approved budgets, and track salaries and shared costs across grants to ensure accurate allocation and prevent duplication or double-charging.
  • Monitor spending to ensure alignment with approved budgets and identify and flag potential variances, compliance issues, or funding risks.
  • Ensure timely invoicing and drawdown of grant funds in accordance with funder requirements and contract terms.
  • Oversee time-and-effort tracking and personnel cost allocations across multiple funding sources, ensuring payroll expenses are properly supported, consistently applied, and compliant with funder and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local cost allowability standards (including Uniform Guidance, where applicable), and support audit readiness by maintaining clear documentation for salary allocations, shared costs, and cost allocation methodologies.
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing activities related to grant funds, including reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Maintain organized financial records, supporting documentation, and audit trails for all assigned grants.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, government agencies, and funders during audits, monitoring visits, and site reviews.
  • Stay current on changes in grant regulations, compliance standards, and reporting requirements, particularly those affecting healthcare, workforce, and government-funded programs.
