Job summary

Marin Community Foundation seeks a Program Officer to lead the Marin 24/7 grantmaking initiatives, developing place-based strategies, managing the Neighborhood Microgrants and grant docket materials, and reporting to the Senior Program Director.

The role emphasizes trust-based philanthropy, collaboration with community partners in Marin County, and oversight of grantmaking budgets and due diligence, with hybrid onsite requirements in Novato.

Qualifications

  • M.A./M.S. degree preferred; B.A./B.S. degree required in related field.
  • 12–15 years of progressive nonprofit or public agency experience.
  • 7+ years as a program officer in grantmaking or comparable context.
  • Knowledge of grant-making processes, ethics and legal issues involved.
  • Strong written and oral communication and relationship-building abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement place-based grantmaking strategies reflecting community priorities and data.
  • Oversee the place-based components of Marin 24/7 initiatives, including participatory grantmaking.
  • Oversee and approve Opportunity Fund grants and Neighborhood Microgrants with due diligence.
  • Prepare grant docket materials and present recommendations to the board.
  • Build relationships with community partners and stakeholders across Marin County.
