Job summary

American University Museum (AUM) and the Alper Initiative for Washington Art (AIWA) seeks an articulate and strategic Grant Writer / Researcher to work with AU Museum and College of Arts & Sciences staff to secure funding from government, corporate, and private foundations.

The role supports exhibitions, local DMV artists, and education programs within the Alper Initiative for Washington Art in Washington, DC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience.
• Master's degree or equivalent preferred.
• Experience working within a university system.

Responsibilities

• Prospect Research: identify and review federal, state, private foundation and corporate funding opportunities.
• Grant and Program Proposals: write narrative proposals for exhibitions, curatorial research, and community outreach.
• Grant Lifecycle Tracking: help set grant calendar with LOI dates and proposal deadlines.
• Funder Stewardship: build relationships with foundation officers and corporate sponsors.
