Job summary

Blue Shield of California Foundation seeks a program manager to lead grantmaking activities, due diligence, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to advance well-being for vulnerable communities in California.

You will partner with the Policy Director and Program Officers to plan grants, monitor budgets, assess proposals, and develop evaluation criteria within a matrixed nonprofit environment with limited travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; four years in program management with grantmaking experience.
• Experience with nonprofit, community-based, philanthropic organizations, or public institutions.
• Limited travel required.

Responsibilities

• Leads grantmaking activities as part of a cross-disciplinary team; conducts due diligence and processing.
• Manages the flow of information and due diligence documents; ensures proper recording in systems.
• Proactively solves obstacles to execute grants and support grantees' success.
• Drafts grant recommendations for the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
• Develops evaluation criteria and analyzes grant reports to measure progress.
• Supports program team in identifying, retaining, and managing consultants; maintains grantee relationships.
