Job summary

HRB is seeking an experienced Project-Based – Grant Management & Compliance leader to provide strategic direction during a transition. You will oversee grant finance operations, address audit findings, investigate restricted funding compliance concerns, and strengthen internal controls to safeguard restricted funds.

Reporting to senior leadership, you will guide cross-functional teams, chair a Grant Management Task Force, and drive process improvements across finance, programs, and operations

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience.
• Deep expertise in grant accounting, restricted funds management, and nonprofit compliance.
• Proven success managing complex audit findings and remediation efforts.
• Strong knowledge of internal control frameworks, risk assessment, and financial compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams through organizational transitions and periods of change.
• Exceptional analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Audit Remediation: Lead efforts to address and resolve outstanding grant management findings identified by external auditors and develop corrective action plans.
• Grant Finance Leadership: Provide leadership and mentorship to the grant management and finance team during a leadership vacancy and ensure continuity of operations for restricted programs.
• Compliance Investigation: Investigate concerns regarding movement and use of restricted funds and assess regulatory exposure.
• Process Improvement & Internal Controls: Evaluate grant accounting processes and design robust controls to safeguard restricted funding.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Chair the Grant Management Task Force and drive collaboration across finance, programs, operations, and leadership.
