Job summary

Roanoke County Police Department is seeking a police professional to provide protective and patrol duties, including school safety oversight for Roanoke County Public Schools. The role requires guarding the campus, responding to incidents, and maintaining strong community relations.

Required are a high school diploma or equivalent, three years’ policing experience, and a Virginia driver’s license with a good driving record.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience working in a police capacity.
• Valid Virginia driver's license with a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned area during shifts, enforcing traffic laws and citations.
• Responds to radio dispatches and communicates effectively on police channels.
• Operates vehicles and equipment safely in emergencies and adverse conditions.
• Pursues suspects, conducts detentions/arrests with approved force as needed.
• Collects and preserves evidence, prepares clear reports and sketches.
• Provides protective services in school environments and engages with the public.
