Job summary

Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska seeks a Project Development Officer to lead grant research, development and fundraising efforts. You will draft applications, manage budgets and narratives, and coordinate with department heads to secure renewals and new funding opportunities.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years in grant writing, with strong organization, English proficiency, and knowledge of federal grants systems. Office-based with standard full-time hours and exempt status.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years in grant writing or equivalent experience.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of federal grant systems (Grants.gov, SAM.gov) and compliance requirements.
• Ability to identify when experts should be engaged in planning.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong English reading, writing, and speaking skills.
• Self-starter with minimal supervision.
• Ability to pass background checks and a US driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate the tribe’s core mission, vision and values.
• Familiarize with tribal departments and programs and federal grant regulations.
• Gather data and documents for grant funding.
• Identify and develop grant programs to support tribal needs.
• Prepare budgets, narratives and attachments for grant applications.
• Coordinate submission of proposals and grant renewals.
• Advise on funding opportunities, requirements and procedures.
• Coordinate activities with leadership and program staff.
