Job Description

The Grant Development Manager serves as the district's lead grant development professional and is responsible for identifying, researching, writing, coordinating, and supporting competitive grant opportunities that advance Clayton County Public Schools' strategic priorities. The position collaborates with district departments, schools, community partners, governmental agencies, foundations, and businesses to secure external funding that supports student achievement, literacy initiatives, workforce development, career and technical education, school improvement efforts, innovative programming, and organizational effectiveness. The Grant Development Manager oversees the grant development process from concept through submission and supports compliance, reporting, and stewardship activities for awarded grants. This position reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Strategic Programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Grant Writing and Proposal Development

Research, develop, write, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals, applications, letters of inquiry, and supporting documentation for federal, state, foundation, corporate, and community funding opportunities

Grant Research and Funding Opportunity Identification

Research and identify competitive funding opportunities aligned to district priorities. Maintain a pipeline of prospective grants and proactively communicate opportunities to district leaders and stakeholders.

Program Development and Stakeholder Collaboration

Collaborate with district departments, schools, and community partners to identify funding needs, develop project concepts, gather supporting documentation, establish measurable outcomes, and prepare competitive proposals.

Grant Submission and Project Coordination

Coordinate the preparation, assembly, review, and timely submission of grant applications. Track application status and serve as the primary point of contact for grant-related communications during the application process.

Grant Compliance, Reporting, and Monitoring

Support grant implementation by monitoring reporting requirements, maintaining grant records, assisting with compliance activities, and preparing periodic reports related to funding opportunities and grant performance.

Other Duties as Assigned

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support district initiatives and organizational goals.

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, English, Public Administration, Business Administration, Education, Nonprofit Management, or a related field required. Master's degree preferred.

Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in grant writing, grant development, external funding acquisition, fundraising, program development, or related work required. Experience securing competitive federal, state, foundation, or corporate grants preferred. Experience in a K-12 educational environment preferred.

The work performed directly impacts the district's ability to secure external funding and resources that support strategic initiatives, educational programs, and operational priorities. Failure to identify, develop, submit, or manage grant opportunities effectively may result in the loss of funding and programmatic opportunities.

Grant Professional Certification (GPC) or other grant writing certification preferred.

Requires independent judgment, analytical thinking, strategic planning, and problem-solving related to funding opportunities, proposal development, grant requirements, and project priorities. Decisions may affect funding outcomes and district initiatives.

Requires frequent interaction with district leadership, principals, department directors, teachers, and staff to identify needs, develop projects, gather information, and coordinate grant activities. Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential.

Requires regular communication with federal and state agencies, foundations, corporations, nonprofit organizations, community partners, and funding representatives regarding grant opportunities, applications, compliance requirements, and reporting expectations.

Requires strong project management, organization, planning, prioritization, and time management skills. Ability to coordinate multiple projects, meet deadlines, facilitate collaborative planning, and manage complex grant development processes.

Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, grant management systems, online grant portals, research databases, budgeting tools, presentation software, and virtual collaboration platforms. Strong technical writing and data analysis skills preferred.

Responsibility for the Welfare of Others:Constant (Daily) - to exercise the duty of care and protection of the health, safety, security, welfare, well-being, and best interests of the district's various stakeholders.

Normal Office environment with frequent interaction with district personnel, school-based staff, community organizations, and funding agencies.

Requires occasional travel to schools, meetings, conferences, training sessions, and partner locations. May require occasional evening or weekend work to meet grant deadlines or attend partnership events.

Work is primarily performed while sitting at a desk utilizing a computer and standard office equipment.

Light physical effort. Requires occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting or carrying materials weighing up to twenty (20) pounds.

NOTE: This is a Grade 27, 225-day position with a salary range of $64,527 - $99,671. Final salary placement within this range is determined based on individual credentials, years of relevant experience, and the guidelines outlined in the CCPS Compensation Handbook found here.
