Job summary

Vision Forward is seeking a part-time Grant Coordinator (25-28 hours/week, with some remote work) to manage the full grant cycle from opportunity identification to post-funding reporting. You will write proposals, gather data and impact stories, coordinate with staff, and maintain grant records.

The role supports a collaborative philanthropy team and reports to the Director of Philanthropy. The perfect candidate brings 3–5+ years of grant writing for a nonprofit, strong writing/editing skills,

Qualifications

  • Strong writing and editing skills for clear, structured, persuasive proposals.
  • Attention to detail in grant proposals and reports.
  • Exceptional critical thinking, organizational and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and use data to inform decisions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of fundraising and research techniques.
  • Experience with grant databases/CRM is a plus.
  • 3–5+ years of grant writing and fundraising in a non-profit.
  • Bachelor's degree desired.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and research potential grant funders.

  • Write proposals, letters of intent, reports, and communications on time and to high quality.
  • Compile budget information for funding applications with staff input.
  • Maintain grant records in the donor database with deadlines and details.
  • Oversee grant calendar to ensure timely submission of materials.
  • Serve as liaison with funders and steward grantors with meaningful interactions.
  • Analyze past grant activity to plan future funding strategies.
  • Support marketing in featuring donor stories tied to grants.
  • Submit an appropriate number of quality proposals annually.

Job description

The Grant Coordinator is involved in all aspects of the grant process from identifying grant opportunities to writing grants and submitting grant reports after funding is received. Vision Forward has a strong history of grant support from family, community and corporate foundations in impact areas including vision loss, disability, early intervention, adaptive technology, job readiness and more. Vision Forward provides a highly supportive philanthropy team to assist with the stewardship of potential and existing grantors and grant review. The position is part-time, 25-28 hours per week, with the opportunity for some of those hours to be done remotely. The Grant Coordinator reports to the Director of Philanthropy.

Responsibilities to fulfilling the Vision Forward mission:
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of Vision Forward's mission and programs to effectively strategize about grant opportunities
Core Functions
  • Identify and research potential grant funders
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the organization to identify funding opportunities, gather language for grant proposals, collect data and impact stories for reports, and monitor that grant-funded activities are being completed
  • Write proposals, letters of intent, reports and communications that are complete, compelling and meet all deadlines and requirements
  • In conjunction with other staff, compile accurate budget information for funding applications
  • Use the Bloomerang donor database to accurately maintain grant records, including foundation data, deadlines, etc.
  • Work cooperatively with the Director Philanthropy and philanthropy team to oversee a grant calendar that ensures the timely submission of grant materials including letters of intent, proposals, and reports
  • Serve as liaison with funders
  • With the support of the philanthropy team, ensure that all grantors are being stewarded with meaningful interactions
  • Use data and reports to analyze past grant activity and effectively plan for the future
  • Work with the marketing team to feature stories of donors and grant-funded programs in agency communications
  • Submit an appropriate number of quality proposals every year to meet annual grant writing goals
The perfect candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to write clear, structured, articulate and persuasive proposals specific to grantor criteria
  • Attention to detail
  • Exceptional critical thinking, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Ability to interact positively and collaborate with others
    Demonstrated skills using data, experience and teamwork to make decisions
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • High sense of discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Knowledge of fundraising and research techniques and strategies
  • Experience using Bloomerang or comparable donor CRM software a plus, but not required
  • 3 - 5+ years of demonstrated experience and proven track record of successful grant writing and fundraising for a non-profit, desired
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university, desired
