Job summary

Valley Youth House seeks a FT Grants Coordinator to actively manage grant prospects and write proposals, ensuring timely reporting and compliance across programs. The role involves coordinating with program and finance staff, maintaining donor records, and presenting regular progress on fundraising goals.

Applicants should have a BA or relevant experience, strong writing skills, and proficiency with Word, Excel, and donor management systems. This is a on-site position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years' grant applications experience for nonprofit agencies.
  • Strong writing and communication skills; detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of grant prospects and write persuasive proposals from $1,000 to $50,000.
  • Maintain records in Donor Perfect to track awards and deadlines.
  • Create monthly reports on grants activity and fundraising goals.
  • Prepare Gift Entry and Grant Implementation documents.
  • Lead grant implementation meetings with program and finance staff.
  • Schedule meetings to support timely grant expenditures and matching funds.
  • Submit government grant reports (HUD, DHHS) and data uploads.

Position: FT- Grants Coordinator ($22hr to $31hr)

Essential Function of the Grants Coordinator:
  • Actively manage a portfolio of grant prospects, writing persuasive proposals (ranging from $1,000 -$50,000) to private funders that illustrate the purpose, activities, and outcomes of agency programs.
  • Maintain accurate records in the donor management system, Donor Perfect, in order to track grant awards, renewals, and report deadlines.
  • Create and present monthly reports that summarize grants activity, upcoming deadlines, and progress on annual fundraising goals.
  • Prepare and disseminate Gift Entry and Grant Implementation Documents, which summarize grant information, spending schedules, and required follow-up.
  • Facilitate Grant Implementation meetings with program and finance staff, ensuring their knowledge of outcome goals, reporting requirements, and post-award amendments or modifications.
  • Schedule follow-up meetings as necessary to support timely grant expenditure and fulfillment of matching funds requirements.
  • Prepare and submit reports for government grants (primarily HUD and DHHS), including annual and semiannual progress reports and Homeless Management Information System data uploads
Minimum Qualifications of the Grants Coordinator:
  • A Bachelor's degree or relevant experience is required, along with a minimum of two years' experience with grant applications for non-profit agencies
  • This position requires a professional with strong attention to detail and superior organizational, analytic, and writing skills.
  • The ideal candidate will be able to manage multiple deadlines, work independently, and actively contribute in team environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Windows Office Suite (especially Word and Excel) is necessary.
  • Must have experience working in deadline-driven environments on individual as well as team projects. Familiarity with donor management systems (e.g. Donor Perfect, Raiser's Edge, or similar) preferred.
Physical Requirements of the Grants Coordinator:
  • While performing duties on this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit for prolonged period of time at a desk, working on a computer.
  • Ability to navigate stairs
  • This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 35 lbs.
  • This position requires travel up to 35% of the time to different offices and Advancement related events.
