Job summary

Philadelphia Works Inc. is seeking a Fiscal Compliance Specialist to monitor and test financial transactions, ensuring grant and contract compliance and supporting audits. You will document findings and coordinate corrective actions with the Director of Fiscal Compliance.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance and at least three years of accounting, auditing, and financial compliance experience, with strong GAAP knowledge, internal controls, and ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of accounting, auditing, and financial compliance experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and review financial transactions for compliance with laws, policies, grant requirements.
• Test expenditures, budgets, cost allocations, procurement records, and supporting docs.
• Verify expenditures are allowable, properly approved, allocated, and charged to the correct grant or funding.
• Conduct routine fiscal monitoring and reviews under the annual plan.
• Analyze grant/contract budgets vs. actuals and identify variances and potential mis-spending.
• Apply 2 CFR Part 200 and grant terms, cost principles, and organizational policies.
• Draft monitoring reports, findings, and recommendations for the Director.
• Support audits by compiling docs and responding to inquiries; maintain internal controls.
• Identify compliance risks, document findings, and elevate significant matters.
• Train staff on fiscal policies and grant requirements; maintain audit-ready documentation.
