Job summary

The Nebraska Department of Education seeks a Grant Compliance Specialist (Administrative Specialist II) in Lincoln to audit federal and state grant funds, ensure compliance with regulations, and provide technical assistance to districts and internal stakeholders.

You will review financial statements, ledgers, budgets, and program standards, develop policies, train staff, and monitor subrecipient compliance through site visits and desk reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field with relevant experience.
• Experience in financial auditing, grants, or regulatory compliance is preferred.
• Background with financial statements, ledgers, budgets, and compliance standards is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist with financial review and interpretation of federal/state laws and regulations related to fiscal compliance.
• Provide technical assistance on fiscal compliance, regulations, policies and procedures, allowable expenditures, and program standards.
• Develop and modify policies, procedures, and systems in accordance with government regulations and organizational needs.
• Assist districts with preparation for external monitoring visits, on-site and desk reviews, audits, and cross-site evaluations.
• Establish and maintain supporting documentation files for each subrecipient financial examination.
• Monitor subrecipient compliance with federal regulations and subrecipient agreements through site visits and audits.
• Provide training and guidance on principles, policies, and interpreting and executing regulations and subrecipient award terms and conditions.
