Job description

Job Title: Grant and Contract Administrator

Grade: 16-18

Salary: $56,112 - $70,591

The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is currently seeking a well organized, self motivated individual to work as a Grant and Contract Administrator in the Corporate Office in Menands, New York. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills and be able to work independently. The Grant and Contract Administrator will be primarily responsible for the preparation, review and submission of grant applications, as well as the negotiation and administration of various research agreements, completion of expenditure reports and other activities, in support of RFMH activities.

A successful candidate will possess strong written and oral communication skills, attention to deadlines and details, the ability to learn new systems and applications, solid organizational skills, and the ability to work cooperatively with a wide variety of professional staff (both internal and external). Capacity to exercise discretion and to promote effective solutions is an asset.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Serve as a point of contact for investigators and administrators on matters related to sponsored program administration, including regulatory compliance of grants and contracts
  • Advise Principal Investigators and administrators on proposal development, including guidance on funding agency regulations and requirements, particularly for SAMHSA and NIH grants and New York State contracts
  • Submit grant proposals in Grants.Gov, eRA Commons and other systems
  • Draft and negotiate subcontracts, independent contractor, confidentiality, material transfer and other contract instruments
  • Analyze terms, conditions and budgets of prime agreements and negotiate with contractors where appropriate
  • Review subcontractor and independent contractor invoices and approve for payment
  • Running and distributing variety of monthly and ad hoc reports, alerting senior staff to issues or concerns
  • Routing documents for internal and external signatures as required
  • Assisting other colleagues and departments as needed
  • Updating written procedures

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in a related field and one (1) year relevant experience OR
  • Associate degree in a related field and two (2) years relevant experience
  • 2 years of experience in the Microsoft applications, especially Outlook, Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Oracle, Adobe and AdobeSign
  • Able to learn new systems and applications
  • Capacity to exercise discretion and to promote effective solutions
  • Attention to deadlines and details
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
