Job summary

United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County is seeking a Grant Staff Accountant to support the Director of Grant Accounting and help manage multiple federal, state and private grant contracts. You will handle billing, financial documents and reporting while ensuring compliance and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

The role involves preparing payables, journal entries, and assisting with audits and year-end processes in a dynamic nonprofit environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or higher education required with related experience.
• Budget and fiscal management experience desired.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience.
• Strong relationships in nonprofit/public/private sectors preferred.
• Experience working with volunteers and residents is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Federal, State and Private Grant contracts.
• Prepare billing to Federal, State, Private grantors.
• Prepare and review financial documents, reports and statements.
• Review, prepare and process all payables for grants.
• Assist in presenting updates to internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain files for all accounts payable related to grants.
• Prepare monthly journal entries and payroll postings.
• Assist with year-end close, audits and required reports.
