Base pay range

$56,000.00/yr - $56,000.00/yr

United Way of Greater Cincinnati (UWGC) is seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Grant Accountant to provide essential accounting support and financial oversight, particularly for federal and non-federal grants. This role supports UWGC, the UWGC Foundation, and shared service agreements.

Key Responsibilities

Grant Financial Management

  • Support grant application processes with accounting insights and documentation.
  • Process and review grant agreements, ensuring all financial compliance standards are met.
  • Interpret and apply regulations (including OMB circulars) for federal and non-federal funding.
  • Maintain systems for grant monitoring and reporting, including preparation of indirect cost rates.
  • Provide grant-related training and guidance to internal teams and external partners.
  • Monitor and report on grants, including budget vs. actuals, drawdowns, matching funds, and sub-recipient oversight.
  • Coordinate audits related to grants, including A-133 compliance.
  • Collaborate with program managers on monthly grant financial reports and support annual budget planning.


Core Accounting Functions

  • Record bank and investment activity; perform cash flow analysis.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including payroll and accruals.
  • Complete reconciliations for cash, investment, and balance sheet accounts for UWGC and UWGCF.
  • Generate monthly financial reports for internal departments.
  • Prepare audit work papers and respond to auditor requests.
  • Contribute to special projects as needed.


Contract & Partnership Accounting

  • Manage financial processes for City of Cincinnati contracts and other agreements, including budgeting, invoicing, and reconciliation.


What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Prior accounting experience required; nonprofit and federal grant accounting experience highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and federal grant guidelines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate) and Word (basic).
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.

Salary: $56,000-$60,000
