Grand Valley State University is seeking a Student Care and Outreach Case Manager in Allendale, MI to provide nonclinical case management support to students referred to the Dean of Students Office. You will identify concerns and connect students with campus and community resources, under supervision, supporting well-being and persistence.

The role covers 0.8 FTE with a 40-hour week in Fall/Winter and 6.25 hours weekly in June–July. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Student Care and Outreach Case Manager - Dean of Students Office

This position provides nonclinical case management support to students referred to the Dean of Students Office. This role works directly with students to help identify concerns and connect them with appropriate campus and community resources. Working under the guidance of senior staff, this role supports students experiencing a range of personal challenges, including family emergencies, mental health or medical concerns, financial or basic needs, and academic difficulties. The position collaborates with campus partners to promote student well-being and persistence.

This is a 0.8 FTE position. The Student Care and Outreach Case Manager will work a standard 40-hour/week schedule during the Fall and Winter semesters and reduce to a 6.25 hours/week schedule during the months of June and July.

Primary Duties

• Under the direction of leadership, provide direct support to students through case management services, including resource referral, follow-up, and basic self-advocacy support.
• Provide outreach, educational opportunities, and other student services as appropriate.
• Collaborate with campus partners within Student Affairs and across the university and participate as a member of the University CARE Team.
• Assist in providing consultation to faculty, staff, and supporters regarding student challenges, concerns, and appropriate referral options.
• Promote holistic development and integrated care to foster student success.
• Assist in maintaining relationships with community-based resources within the Allendale & Grand Rapids Community.
• Maintain all required documentation of activities within Maxient database system.
• Support compliance with reporting requirements under Title IX, the Clery Act, and other applicable regulations, in consultation with supervisor.
• Demonstrate commitment to working with traditionally underserved or marginalized populations and assist in connecting students to appropriate campus support.
• Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, social work, or related field.
• One (1) year of relevant experience in nonclinical case management, student support, human services, or a related area (internships and graduate assistantships may be considered).
• Ability to work effectively with all constituents (students, faculty, administration, community members, parents and supporters).
• Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgement and leadership, including the ability to work independently.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including strong oral, written, and listening communication capabilities.
• Ability to manage sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues and be thoughtful of multicultural environment.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Master's degree (completed or in progress) in student affairs, education, psychology, social work, or related field.
• Experience working in higher education environment or student support setting.
• Experience working with Maxient Database System.
• Experience working in the areas of crisis management, behavior intervention, and community standards in higher education environment.
• Working knowledge of Title IX, FERPA, and other regulations associated with the position.
• Demonstrated success in collaborating with campus wide stake holders.
