Job summary

Ag Plus in northeast Indiana is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day grain and agronomy operations at the South Whitley location, including personnel, customer service, inventory, budgeting, equipment maintenance, and regulatory compliance.

The role emphasizes safe, efficient operations, maintaining grain quality, and building strong customer relationships while guiding staff and coordinating with the CEO and management team.

Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; or 5-10 years or more related experience and/or education; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions; deal with problems with several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Computer Skills: Knowledge of Accounting software; Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Indiana Driver's License; Preferred Commercial Pesticide Applicator License 1A; Preferred CCA certificate.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the daily grain and agronomy operations of the South Whitley location, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and efficiently.
• Manages location expenses, cost controls, budgeting, and inventory levels based on seasonal operational needs.
• Promotes Ag Plus's grain and agronomy products, services, and programs to current and prospective customers.
• Assists in developing annual customer programs that may include soil testing, field mapping, product recommendations, field scouting, timely and accurate application, recordkeeping, and follow-up communication.
• Maintains regular contact with current customers and develops and follows up with prospective customers.
• Oversees grain receiving, drying, storage, conditioning, inventory, and loadout activities while monitoring grain quality to minimize shrink, spoilage, and loss.
• Maintains all grain and agronomy facilities, grounds, vehicles, and equipment in a safe, clean, professional, and dependable condition.
