Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM, seeks Graduate Summer Interns to conduct basic and applied research on weather, structural, thermal, fluid, and aero phenomena related to advanced vehicle design. You will be mentored by staff engineers and work with test engineers and technologists to gain hands-on experience in a national laboratory setting.

Daily tasks include experiments, simulations, data analysis with Python/ Matlab, and presentation of results to the project team.

Qualifications

• Earned bachelor's degree or higher.
• Full-time enrollment in a graduate program in spring prior to internship (or graduation in spring).
• Minimum GPA 3.0/4.0.
• Able to work up to 40 hours per week.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist staff to conduct experiments or simulations in weather, fluid mechanics, particle dynamics, or structural vibration.
• Perform surrogate and/or data-driven modeling.
• Participate in wind tunnel testing and large-scale testing.
• Conduct engineering analysis on experimental and computational data.
• Present results to project team.
