Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories invites Graduate Summer Interns to explore basic and applied research in thermal, fluid, and aero sciences as part of our National Security mission. You will be mentored by staff engineers and work with test engineers and technologists to gain hands-on experience in a national laboratory environment.

Interns may engage in computational simulations, data-driven modeling, and experimental activities such as wind tunnel testing and laser diagnostics.

Qualifications

• Earned bachelor's degree in a relevant science/engineering field.
• Spring term enrollment in a science/engineering/math graduate program or graduation upcoming.
• Minimum GPA 3.0/4.0.
• Ability to work up to 40 hours per week in the summer.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist staff in the Thermal Fluid, and Aero Sciences group with various projects.
• Conduct computational simulations in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, or aero sciences.
• Perform surrogate or data-driven modeling of thermal/fluid phenomena.
• Participate in wind tunnel testing, laser diagnostics, high-speed imaging, or rheological characterization.
• Analyze experimental and computational data to support research.
• Contribute to a wide range of engineering and science disciplines listed in the posting.
