Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation invites qualified students to join the Space Object Risk Department as an internship participant. You will work on risk assessment for space object conjunctions, development of analysis tools, and real-time support activities across launch, on-orbit, and disposal phases.

The program requires full-time commitment for at least 10 weeks, provides mentorship, and offers exposure to Python, C++, Fortran, and HPC environments.

Qualifications

• Enrolled full-time in an accredited college/university program pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related technical discipline
• Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks outside of university term and return to MS/PhD program after completion
• Aptitude in astrodynamics and related mathematics
• Skills in the development and use of computer software tools
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
• Transcripts are required for this position

Responsibilities

• Contribute to focus areas of SORD and related departments
• Apply and develop analysis tools and techniques as necessary
• Work with department staff as part of project teams
• Handle multiple projects simultaneously during internship
• Training and mentorship will be provided
