Job summary

Canonical is hiring 2025 and 2026 Graduate Software Engineers to join engineering teams worldwide. We work on open source projects and commercial systems, from BIOS and kernel to desktop apps and containers.

You will explore multiple languages including Python, Rust, C/C++, Golang, JavaScript and Java, and contribute to security, performance, and OSS collaboration. Most teams are remote; two annual in-person sprints and periodic travel are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Strong academic record from high school and university.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS or STEM with programming courses.
• Proficiency in Python, Rust, C/C++, Golang, JavaScript or Java.
• Experience with Ubuntu or Linux distributions.
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality code and meet commitments.

Responsibilities

• Shape the product roadmap at global sprints every six months.
• Focus on design and user experience for developer tooling and CLIs.
• Write high-quality, resilient, and performant code serving millions of users.
• Master key programming languages and Linux system knowledge.
• Engage with users and OSS community via code reviews and issue trackers.
• Respond to customer issues as a priority and understand enterprise needs.
• Develop security awareness in software design and implementation.
