Job summary

Halff is seeking new graduates for an entry-level Environmental Scientist role in our Dallas, TX office, with graduation in December 2026 or May 2027. You will perform fieldwork to collect samples, analyze data, and assist with permit applications under regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental science, natural resources management, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in collecting flora and fauna data to translate into natural resource reports.
  • Positive attitude, proactive self-starter, and exceptional ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong research, analytical, written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field work to collect samples, conduct field surveys and analyze data.
  • Assist with preparation of permit applications and ensure compliance with environmental regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other professionals to develop and implement environmental solutions.
  • Provide quality support to multi-disciplinary teams for successful delivery and execution of sustainable solutions.
  • Use ArcGIS and GPS technologies for data collection and analysis.
  • Delineate resources, assess impacts, and support permitting efforts.
  • Support threatened and endangered species surveys, permitting, and relocation as needed.
  • Travel and stay out of town for extended periods, possibly up to 2 weeks.
  • Work outdoors in fluctuating conditions with emphasis on safety and project success.
  • Capable of physical exertion and lifting up to 40 pounds.

Graduate Scientist I, Environmental

Halff is seeking New Graduates who will graduate in December 2026 or May 2027 for an entry level Environmental Scientist in our Dallas, TX office. The ideal candidate will bring experience in completing environmental field data collection activities. The successful candidate will bring relevant and hands‑on experience in collecting environmental data, adhering to standards dictated by state and federal agencies, familiarity with various regulatory permits.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate the ability to oversee budgets and schedules and interact with subconsultants and clients.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for performing field work to collect samples, conduct field surveys and analyze data.
  • Assist with the preparation of permit applications and ensure compliance with environmental regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other professionals to develop and implement environmental solutions.
  • Provide quality support to multi-disciplinary teams for the purpose of successful delivery and execution of sustainable solutions to valued clients.
  • Intermediate proficiency with ArcGIS, and/or GPS technology.
  • Resource delineations, impacts analysis, and environmental permitting. preferred.
  • Threatened and Endangered Wildlife Species surveys, permitting and relocation.
  • Flexibility to travel and remain out of town for extended periods of time and possibly up to 2 weeks.
  • Cooperatively, work outdoors in fluctuating climate conditions, emphasizing safety, productivity and project success.
  • Capable of physical exertion and standing for extended periods of time and lifting equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds.

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in biology, environmental science, natural resources management, or related field; Master's Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in collecting flora and fauna data to translate into natural resource reports.
