Job summary

Halff Associates, Inc. is seeking a Graduate Scientist I, Environmental in our Tampa, FL office. The position targets new graduates to join an established team, perform environmental field work, collect flora/fauna data, and assist with permit applications while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Collaboration with engineers and project managers will drive sustainable solutions for diverse clients. You will work outdoors in varying conditions, develop data-driven reports, and travel up to two weeks

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology, environmental science, natural resources management, or related field.
• Master's degree preferred for advanced opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Perform field work to collect samples, conduct surveys and analyze data.
• Assist with preparation of permit applications and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other professionals on environmental solutions.
• Provide support to multi-disciplinary teams to deliver sustainable client solutions.
• Maintain intermediate proficiency with ArcGIS Pro and GPS technologies.
• Support resource delineations, impacts analysis and permitting efforts.
• Conduct threatened and endangered species surveys, permitting and relocation as needed.
• Be flexible to travel and stay out of town up to 2 weeks when required.
• Work outdoors in variable conditions, emphasizing safety and project success.
• Capable of physical exertion and lifting up to 40 pounds.

Graduate Scientist I, Environmental

Halff is seeking New Graduates who will graduate in December 2026 or May 2027 for an entry level Graduate Scientist I, Environmental in our Tampa, FL office. Our team of Environmental Scientists offers expertise in natural resources impact analysis and permitting as well as environmental due diligence investigations for a wide variety of clients and locations. The appropriately qualified applicant will need to demonstrate a willingness to join an established team of professionals and contribute to the success of that team.

What you will do:

• Responsible for performing field work to collect samples, conduct field surveys and analyze data.
• Assist with the preparation of permit applications and ensure compliance with environmental regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other professionals to develop and implement environmental solutions.
• Provide quality support to multi-disciplinary teams for the purpose of successful delivery and execution of sustainable solutions to valued clients.
• Intermediate proficiency with ArcPro, and/or GPS technology.
• Resource delineations, impacts analysis, and environmental permitting.
• Threatened and Endangered Wildlife Species surveys, permitting and relocation.
• Flexibility to travel and remain out of town for extended periods of time and possibly up to 2 weeks.
• Cooperatively, work outdoors in fluctuating climate conditions, emphasizing safety, productivity and project success.
• Capable of physical exertion and standing for extended periods of time and lifting equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds.

What you will need:

• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in biology, environmental science, natural resources management, or related field; Master's Degree preferred.
• Experience in collecting flora and fauna data to translate into natural resource reports.
• Positive attitude, proactive self-starter, and exceptional ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong effectiveness in research, analytical, written and verbal communicative capabilities.
