Primary Function: Recruiting students to the graduate counseling programs.

Major Duties

The Department of Behavioral Sciences, housed in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, offers three graduate programs: the M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, the M.S. in Marriage, Couples, and Family Therapy, and the M.S. in School Counseling. The primary function of this position is to recruit students to these three programs. These programs are in a period of active enrollment rebuilding, and the successful candidate will help shape the recruiting strategy.

The duties of this position include
  • On-site recruiting at behavioral health agencies, school districts, hospitals, churches, and other relevant organizations across the South Plains and West Texas.
  • Travel for recruiting events as needed.
  • Build and sustain relationships with regional employers and school districts, including partnership arrangements that create a sustained pipeline of prospective students.
  • Respond promptly to prospective student inquiries by phone, email, and online, and maintain a documented follow-up cadence for every inquiry.
  • Maintain complete and current prospect records in Slate, including inquiry source and, for every prospect who does not enroll, the reason. Report regularly on inquiry, application, and enrollment activity.
  • Work closely with prospective students as they move toward enrollment, guiding them through application, financial aid, and admission.
  • Cultivate an internal pipeline from LCU undergraduate programs in psychology and related fields, working with undergraduate faculty and academic advising.
  • Work closely with University Graduate Studies, including the Graduate Studies Coordinator and the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs, and with the department chair, graduate faculty, and program coordinators.
  • Maintain the graduate counseling sections of the LCU website, and coordinate with University Marketing and Communications on content, campaigns, and promotion for these programs.
  • Requires strong computer and internet research skills as well as organization, confidentiality, excellent interpersonal skills, project coordination experience, and the ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients and vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to serve students, faculty, and staff in a professional manner, and to advise prospective students honestly regarding cost, credentialing, and program fit.
  • Working knowledge of digital marketing, social media, and enrollment marketing practice, and the ability to partner with University Marketing on a coordinated campaign.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing, and social media platforms. Experience with a CRM such as Slate is strongly preferred.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and problem-solve.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.
  • Ability to drive.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required. A master’s degree in any discipline is a plus.
  • Significant experience in sales, direct marketing, or social media marketing required. Experience in higher education recruiting, graduate admissions, or enrollment management is a plus.
  • No background in counseling is required. Familiarity with the counseling professions, licensure pathways, or behavioral health settings is a plus.
Physical Requirements

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee will be required to do the following:

  • Must be ambulatory around campus and in buildings.
  • Be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Have the manual dexterity required to type, distribute mail, and pick up small objects.
  • Ability to talk frequently to convey detailed and/or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive verbal information.
  • Required to lift packages and/or move heavy objects, 25+ lbs.
  • Visual abilities are required to prepare or proof documents or operate basic office equipment.
